I ordered the bolts with the spring clip to attach belts to the rear deck. I will probably go with some sort of spring clip belt end on the harness. The only thing that I don't want to have to do is to make the part that slides onto the rear deck bolt. Anyone know if they are available someplace? I will make some if I have to but they probably won't be pretty....
Thanks.

A few years ago I bought a pair of the clips from a guy on ebay who had a small batch of them made. He kept what he needed and sold the rest. They were precision cut from stainless steel, but unfinished. On other words, they needed to have the edges eased and to be polished. Might not be bad way to go. There is always someone on here looking for them. Good luck.

I don't understand. According to M-E the deck mount for the seat belt was '68 - '72 IE these are not used on a '74. I didn't double check Clausager.

Mk1: CKD 11/66 first registered 8/5/67; owned since 3/77. 18GB +40 balanced. Peter Burgess BVFR head. Piper 285. 123. FidanzaFW. 4synch c/r box. Lots more as I did a nut and bolt rebuild; finished 2015. Tartan Red.

GT: December '78. VW Golf guards, flush fit front and rear valances. Torana XU1 vents, frenched indicators & Mk1 rear lights. 'Worked' Rover V8 with Monsoon ECU for EFI. GM4L60E, Lokar tiptronic & Quick4 controller. Vintage Air A/C. FC IFS. CCE 4 link rear. Salisbury with Quaife. Jaguar Storm.

The OP has a GT, belts and mounts are different from a roadster. The GT belt mounts are on top of the wheel well. See p.42 in Clausager. The GT shoulder belts are at a much safer angle than the later inertia reel belts in the roadsters.

I listed my car incorrectly. It is not a GT. (I should wear my glasses more often!)
It is a '74 but it still has the mounting holes in the rear deck for the belts. I'm trying to use them and avoid possible spinal compression.
Sorry for the confusion.

Is the support under the hole the same for later cars that just had a plastic plug? If not that anchor wouldn't hold in every situation.

It's threaded so I assumed that there was a plate under there. I will check when I get back outside. Snowing here now!

Where did he say GT? (I know all about GT seat belt mounting points.)

Anyway I checked Clausager who says that deck mount was used until '77 so all good (and M-E not as accurate as they could be not that it matters to M-E anymore given their acquisition).

Hello Bill

Are you still looking for a way to connect your shoulder belts to the rear deck mount bolts of your MGB?

I have these (see photo). I bought them from a forum member a few years ago and didn't use them. Are they what you're looking for? These things are very hard to find. If you don't want them I think I'll put them on the B.S.T. forum.

One is in very good condition. The other one had some pitting of the chrome. I removed the damaged chrome, wire brushed the part to bare metal and painted it. The surface is a little rough where the rust was but it's perfectly useable IMHO. Some silver paint would make it look better (I only had the grey paint you see in the picture).

You'd have to have them attached (sewn on) to your belts. See picture 3 for an example.

If you're interested - - How about twenty bucks for both? Plus shipping to you. I paid more than that for them but oh well - I can't use them so I'd like to pass them on to someone who can. Let me know what you think.

That's exactly what I need. Let me check with my girlfriend's Uncle. I just found out that he has two parts cars! As these are so hard to find, I doubt that he has any. Please hold on to them until I get back to you. I appreciate your help!

When you do get the brackets you will need a certified harness manufacturer to add them to your seat belt webbing. I highly recommend Safety Restore in Westfield Massachusetts. I used them for my belts and they were fantastic. Low cost, quality job, very fast turnaround. Www.safetyrestore.com.
