I have a 1977 MGB. When ever I press the brake the engine is affected. Do I have a bad brake booster or vacuum leak?

Marvin, It could be a Booster Vacuum fitting or hose perhaps the Non-return Valve or as Americans call it the Booster check valve or a bad diaphragm or seal in the booster.

Check the hose. Depending on how old it is, they do deteriorate and cause a vacuum leak.

I've done a bunch of these once you rule out bad hose/valve leak direct your attention to the diaphram here lies your problem.....

many times the rear master cylinder seal will leak oil into and onto the rubber diaphram destroying it

once you seperate the MC from the booster if any oil is present replace the MC as well

good luck

Nick
