After some time off doing other projects I am back on the Midget. It has been neglected for too long.

Working on the doors now. I adapted an engine stand to hold the door as I dissembled it. Maybe over kill but the doors are tough to manage off the car.

I notice the window down stop is missing/rusted to nothing. Anyone have a drawing of what the bracket looks like?

I have a few small rust holes which I am enlarging and welding in disks that fit.

Have ordered replacement quarter light seals from MacGregor as the ones I got from moss are trash.

David

Quinton Hazell sells a stainless steel window down stop which I used when rebuilding my doors and found the original steel ones had rusted away to nothing.

Hello Norm

Thank you.

I had hoped to find the dimensions so I could make my own one. I see that Moss UK has a SS one and as I will need the clips that hold the squeezy and felt sweep I may get them from the UK. I will email MacGregor to see if he does those parts.

I just found your great writeup on the door reassembly.

Went out and got a battery for the Midget today, size 51 seems to fit. When I was placing the heater box in the car to judge the amount of room I had for the battery I noticed there is a gap between the bottom of the heater and the air intake to the car. Don't remember what went in there. Some foam packing? It is about 1"

Did run the engine on its stand till it was warmed up.

There is a thick foam rectangle that goes between the bottom of the heater box and the top of the battery tray.
If that is missing then while it is out you can also disassemble the heater box to make sure the soft foam wrap is present around the outside perimeter of the heater matrix.

Those two pieces of foam are necessary for the Midget heater to be as hot as it is (even on the coldest days all I need are a good pair of gloves and a warm hat, because the heat coming out of the foot vents is so hot).

Having ordered some rubber door parts from moss a while ago and found them of very poor quality I was advised to go to MacGregor. I ordered several items from him including the quarter light rubbers. He does not stock the quarter light rubber anymore so are there any other quality suppliers left to go to?
Moss UK any better than moss US?
