With driving season now here on the east coast I await some posts on traffic light or gas station compliments. IE: "What's an MGB". Drive on gents!

I couldn’t even trailer the car home when I bought it without being pulled over twice by people wanting to know what it was! Lol!
Almost every time I drive it I get comments from other drivers at stop lights or a thumbs up ! Recently I was stopped at a red light and a car pulled up on my right (drivers side) and a pretty young blond lady shouted out “ I like your little car! What is it?” And “is it weird to drive on the “wrong” side?” I said yes it is, but it’s great for meeting people and having conversations at traffic lights. Who would have known that a 49 year old beat up MG would be such a chick magnet!!

It's funny that I can park beside a new car worth ten times my little car, and every time I'll get ten times the attention.

Over here in the UK the MGB attracts little attention. No-one has ever asked what make it is. I guess it's a familiar enough sight on British roads even now. I used to own a 1971 Lotus Elan Sprint Coupe, red over white, and that attracted lots of attention. The most surprising car I have owned was my 1977 Triumph Dolomite. Loads of folk asked about that, some thought it was a Triumph Herald! One guy even chased me on foot round a car park to speak to me about the car.

I take my MGB "Johnny Lightning" car to the shows and because it's a replica of the Johnny Lightning series MGB, i get the kids. The real beauty of the thing is that I let the kids sit in the car and get their picture taken by a parent. Some can't see over the door so I have them squat in the car. Now they can see over the door! I have an old helmet that they can put on if they want.. Don't win a lot of trophies, but I sure do get all the kids. Even some of the parents are interested! I have the model car velcroed to the top of the roll bar. If they don't have the car in their collection, rest assured they will get one. After all, going to school with a photo of you in the car and the model in your hand is the ultimate of one-upmanship when your in middle school.

"a few of my neighbors keep yelling "SLOW DOWN""

We have one of these in our neighborhood. Since he has no idea how fast I am going, I ignore him. After all, when he drives the neighborhood in his ATV doing mach 2 with dogs loose in the back, I could tell him to slow down and leash his dogs. But I don't.

Some things you can't fix.

Appropriate response to those cranky about how you drive. Probably just jealous because you have an MG and they don't.

One guy asked me if my GT was some kind of a 007 car.

I told him it was a poor man's Aston Martin.

The other day a guy in a late model Corvette pulled in next to me in a parking lot and was admiring the car (he knew what it was). He had his top down and asked why my top was up. I asked him if he had ever raised the top on an MG. Nope. His top goes up and down with a button. Told him down was easy, up is a pain in the butt, so it depends on the weather.

People comment on my MGB all the time.

I once had a guy run up to my car and excitedly tell me that his brother in law (or somebody) had a car the same as my green '69 MGB.

"It was exactly the same!", he exclaimed.

"Except it was red".

"And it was called a Triumph".

I pulled out on a local hiway. Saw a motorcycle club about a quarter mile back At the stop sign I was going left. They all came up even in the shoulder. They never saw a chrome bumper MGB. It was a local Gold Wing club from South Jersey. Nice group of couples. It made my day!.
