I have the dash out and it in pretty bad shape. I have been reading some older posts and I'm stripping it of the foam and going to a steel dash and will recover with leather grain vinyl. I understand that the UK cars did not have a padded dash and the US dash was padded to meet federal specs. To accommodate the padding steel extensions were welded in the glove compartment area. Pictures I have the steel dash presents very well, in my opinion. I'm ready to receive the negative feedback for doing this mod. It's now a v6 conversion and have a built 5.0 and 5 speed ready to go but with the economy being what it is it will have to wait. I have the dimensions to modify the crossmember but at 79 years old and besides the economy don't know if I have the strength and time to do it.
