I removed the fuse box the other day to thoroughly clean all of the terminals after there was a problem with one of them not passing current.
I didn't realize that the orientation of the box mattered since looking from the top, it's symmetrical for up/down and left/right, so I didn't make an orientation mark.
It turns out it does matter, as two of the terminals are ganged.
They are all numbered, with #1 being at the bottom left of the first photo, which is ganged to #3. (Even numbers one side, odd numbers the other side.)
Can someone please tell me if when the fuse box is in the car, and you're looking down at it (that is, as in the second picture with wires attached) should #1 should be at the lower right or upper left?
Thanks!

Pete

In 1974 when I was 18, I passed on buying a running and driving 1966 Jaguar E-Type coupe for $1,500, which is what they were selling for at the time.
Fifty years later, I'm still kicking myself...

The second photo in your post shows it well, once I point it out:

the two sets of red wires go at #1 and #3 position, lower left when installed in the vehicle (and there is only one power "in" on the other side, the red/green wire)

Note that the rivets sometimes get corrosion between them and the terminals, which can be eliminated by soldering them together (or buy a new fuse block from British Wiring).

Norm,

There is no way to orient the fuse block to have terminals 1 and 3 at the lower left, where the two sets of red wires go.
1 and 3 can only be at the upper left or lower right due to the design of the block. If you look closely on photo #1, you can see the terminal numbers.
You have to imagine the first photo flipped over in order to install it, and where that would place terminals 1 and 3.
So the two sets of red wires can only be on terminals 5 and 7, or on terminals 2 and 4.
Any insight?

Thanks,
Pete

sorry, good catch, I got myself backwards

Correction of previous post: the key point is the two jumpered terminals are where the red/green wire goes, and the pair opposite are where the red wires go (both of the bottom two fuses get their power from the one, red/white wire).

OK - That makes sense.
I think you meant that both lower fuses get their power from where the red/green wire goes, not red/white wire, right? There's no red/white on my car.
Thanks!

Correct, the red/green wire is the power feed for the fused LHS and RHS wiring circuits, so
the red/green wire attaches to the ganged terminals as in Norm's photo above.
