I want to change the original 15 inch wheel but I'm confused by the names of the Boss's. Mine is shaped like sugar bowl so I don't know which wheei will fit. Any help and advice will be appreciated

I don't have insight into the name of the boss's, but I can advise that you'd be better off avoiding the cheap wheels from eBay(unless you like to modify things I guess). I bought one of them right after I first bought my car. The included boss was absolutely terrible, as it made the wheel stick out a solid 2 inches more than the factory 15" wheel. It pretty much put it right into my chest and made it a lot harder to get in the car. I ended up having to use the spline adapter that came with the wheel and I fabricated my own boss out of some plate steel. I can also tell you that, in my opinion, a 13" wheel is the perfect size for the car.

Hello David,

I have a 76 Midget 1500 that I bought new when I was young and much thinner. A consideration in changing a 15 inch diameter factory steering wheel to a smaller diameter steering wheel is that it will change the geometry, the ratios and the response of the whole steering system. Many years ago a good friend with a muscle car that did not have power steering changed to a much smaller race-car like mini steering wheel -- and on his first drive around the block he went over the curb at the first intersection then over a lawn and almost into a house. That's when I learned small things can make for big changes., some unwelcome.
So, I suggest that you check with professionals at a performance automotive shop for their thoughts on such a change. It may involve more than just a steering wheel change.

If your objective is to get more "breathing room" between your body and the steering wheel (something I need and would love), well, some members of the forum report that they switched to earlier model Midget seats, which were less padded and thinner. They are still available at Moss.

Good luck,

Richard

If you install a smaller (13"winking smiley wheel in your car and change to a flat wheel you should get more room!
