I've seen various threads re. remote starting, watched John twist start under bonnett video, my question is,I bought an actron remote starter with 2 clips and 1 triger. I figured how to bump the engin with the remote but how do I actualy start the engin?
I know I'm missing somthing verry simple.
thank U all.

Make sure you are in neutral with the parking brake on and/or wheels chocked. Turn the igniting on, then use the bump switch to actuate the starter.

So you are saying it won't start with the ignition on and cranking with the bump switch?

It probably needs the choke on if the engine is cold.

Just understand that your remote start causes the engine to crank. In order for it to run, the ignition has to be turned on to the Run position, you may have to pull the choke out, and you can reach across the top of the engine to operate the throttle. Once the engine starts, simply remove the white/brown wire from its contact at the fuse box and the engine will continue to run as normal. Then you can turn the engine off with the key as usual...

yes, my plan is to change out the distr. I'll get tdc on #1 plug then set timing using light.

You'll get a much more accurate TDC not using the bump starter.

I'm still confused as to why you want to be able to start the B using the remote start (actually a misnomer). Unless you are removing and then reinstalling your distributor, there is no reason to have the engine at #1 TDC or any other crankshaft position. If simply R&R of existing distributor, make certain that the clamp plate is kept tightened to the distributor body to maintain timing setting. If removing for installing new points, timing will need to be re-established anyway. If installing a new distributor, TDC is irrelevant as the the distributor shaft can be installed into the drive gear in only one position due to the offset key. Once installed, the crank can be turned to #1 TDC based upon the damper notch and the approximate 1 o'clock position of the rotor. While not required, I usually set timing statically before starting engine for dynamic timing.
