Hello,

Question I seemed to begetting some heat from the heater. under the hood which direction should the needle be pointing towards THE FRONT ( radiator )OR THE fire wall...?

What needle?

Early 1974 MGB with OD, SU HIF's, 72 spoke chrome WW's, Schlemmer distributor, DuBois fuel pump, Limey's relays, Gerry's column kit.

Common problem with the original style heater valve not stopping coolant flow completely.

It is a pull-to-close/push-to-open valve.

The shut off is on the passenger side of the engine just above the distributor. you will see the cable attached to it and see how it pushes the slider back and fourth.
sometimes if you reach down to it and push it a little more towards the closed end it will shut off the last bit of water.

Get someone to operate the dash crank knob while you watch the movement to see which way is closed.

The shaft hat moves back and forth....when it is forward is it hot andif it is back toward sthe fire wall off? Lori Ann

Shaft towards the fire wall on Hot shaft towards the front on hot Tks Lori Ann
