I have just fitted electric power steering to my GTB the setup is from an 1990's mgf. The fitting was reasonably simple the unit is the correct length, had to get an old steering and cut 50mm off and machined to fit the universal on the new shaft the other end fits into the original universal. All the indicator set up fits in its original positional made 2 brackets and jobs done

Interesting mod! How does it drive? I've never felt it necessary to lighten the steering in my '67 GT, but have had other cars where it would have been welcome.

Same here, not unhappy with my steering at all but the wife finds it a bit of a handful, is it switchable, i.e. if you don't power the motor is the steering as was but unassisted ?

A bit more involved with a fully collapsible steering column of course and the Peugeot 306 option might be the better one.

Can be switched on or off, unassisted is just like normal mg steering. The thing with the mgf steering there is NO cutting required mine is a 69 mk2 so i don't have steering lock to worry about.

very cool. Good option for folks that have health issues!

I have just bought an MGF column and EPAS and need to know a bit more before i can start the conversion. Please could someone clarify a couple of things which are blocking progress for me:

"had to get an old steering and cut 50mm off and machined to fit the universal on the new shaft" ... An old steering What ?; MGF column, MGB column or MGB pinion ? If it is an MGB part why couldn't the car's original part be cut down for this ?

Was the the MGF steering lock used
were the MGF stalk switches and steering wheel used ?
What was done to provide the ignition pulses and road speed pulses the MGF EPAS unit needs in order to run ?
