Hey everyone,
I've been sanding and filling away on my 79, she is almost all one color now smiling smiley . Promise to post some pics soon. The evolution of the final product continues. Went from chrome bumper, now to bumperless, and today saw something that put the final draft of what I want her to look like in my head. Crazy idea, but I'm making a speedsters! Impractical, I know. If I was practical, I would have bought a Miata haha.
Anyway, the windshield is going away now. What I want to do instead is put 2 piece windscreen like the ones you see on hot rods and vintage racers. My problem is that the only thing I know what to call it is a "brooklands windscreen". It seems Moss has the monopoly on reproductions or buy Jag ones for astronomical numbers. My usual hot rodding sources come up with nothing. I just can't see paying little over 100 per side for something that boils down to 2 brackets and a piece of glass. I just can't believe that the Chinese have not fludded eBay with cheap repros.
I guess the million dollar question is what the heck do I call that type of windshield and where can I get them cheap?
PS, anyone wana buy a windshield, frame and all? I'll sell ya one cheap. Or I can always trade for stuff winking smiley

One alternative:

use your present windshield frame, ditch the top rail, cut down the side rails to the height you want, and have a stock windshield glass cut down to that height.

always an option, but id like to save that for a last resort. I want to ditch the windshield altogether. If i had it my way, i would leave any wind break off and just wear and old timely leather talker hat and googles but the Mrs. will not be all too happy with that option so i have to make concessions. I was thinking i could even fabricate some "floating" windscreens out of poly carbonate but if there is a readily available option out there i would rather go for that. Although...i would look pretty darn good in one of these

I would like that style too! But i am too scared of taking the windshield off, does it leave a gap you have to fill? It also takes commitment because the top is useless if you go that route and its a 120 degrees now

Thanks, Trevor, that's exactly what I was thinking.

Makes the Midget look lower, wider, meaner !
