A bootleg photo from one of their jam sessions...
"One test is worth a thousand expert opinions"--Alvin "Tex" Johnston...Boeing test pilot.
"Who do you think you are? I am."...Pete Weber
73 MGB. Tires: Round, black, hold air. Oil: Sometimes old, sometimes new...always slippery. Oil filter: Yellow, usually full of oil. Carbs: 2 SU HIF. Distributor: Yes. Headlights: Not that bright but bright enough. A bunch of other stuff most cars have but not really important enough to itemize. Oh, wait...it has a cool sounding exhaust with stickers on the chrome tips. Really slays the ladies...

Saw them in 1989 in Indianapolis with their "Steel Wheels" tour.
Great show.

Its painful enough to watch bands who were in their prime during the 80's and haven't had an original song since last century at $35 per ticket at a county fair. Paying $200 to see a group of septuagenarian's going though the motions on stage is downright torture. I see the Eagles are back begging(and getting) for more now as well.
I "get" seeing a band during a "farewell" tour. But the Stones have been on their "farewell" tour for the better part of 30 years now. I think Cher is suffering from the same disease.

I saw them here earlier this year.
One of the best live shows I have ever seen, up in the top five - and I have seen many.
Huge outdoor gig in perfect weather. Great stage - great production - great sound - great band. In fact they spent three weeks in our town rehearsing and hanging around before this, the first gig of the revised tour (after it had earlier been postponed under tragic circumstances).
And yes, they do look further away in an iPhone picture - I had great tckets. They were clearly visible on stage - especially when they walked out on the thrust stage. I do pity those sitting up the back of the stadium in the grandstands but they had the big screens and the great sound (and much cheaper tickets).
Go see them. They are the originals playing the originals.

I never had the chance to see them.
While working nights for a alarm company in New Haven, CT. I was driving on Broadway by the Holiday Inn and noticed a limo with a tour bus behind it..
As I drove past, I thought no way I just saw what I thought I saw! I turned around, because if I saw what I thought I did, there was only one place they were going.
I parked the work truck and walked over to Toad's Place. A local place which has the tag line "Where the Legends play". Turns out the Stones played a unanounced practice set of the Steel Wheels tour......
I was unable to get in (big surprise) but stood outside the door and listened to them, until i had to go to a break in....

I'd love to go see them live - and so what if the play songs I know? I KNOW them because I liked them and I still do! They are the premier band of rock and roll!!!

I lived in and around Seattle during the grunge period(late 80's/early 90s) and loved going to see bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden etc...in tiny venues around the city. I STILL love to go to shows at small clubs, and from bands of all genre's. My first concert was KISS back in 1978. I've seen them a couple of times in between...but last saw them at "Rock USA" in 2013. Just not the same. Lawn chairs, grey hairs, and all that. I'm of that generation...but it's just not the same. I like the "rush" of the whole thing. But then again...I'm an adrenaline junkie...so that's probably part of the issue as well.
My cousin's son is the lead vocalist in a "big" metal band. When they are on tour and nearby and even though he's 20 years younger...he always invites me to see them and all that goes with it. He knows I love the party. All access...literally. I'm on stage behind the PA's with the wives/girlfriends etc...
On the topic of "old" bands...I was in the Navy with the youngest son(Damon) of the founder of Iron Butterfly, I got to meet Doug Ingle at his part time home in Port Angeles Wa(this was 1993). I asked him the "question" everyone always asks. Was "In-a-gadda-da-vida" supposed to be named "In the garden of Eden", but everyone was so high it came out as that"? He said NO! He did say PART of the rumor was true though. They WERE all "messed up" on all sorts of drugs...but the name was NOT a mistake!lol!
Probably the most important thing you'll learn today!lol!

Oh...I'm not saying you're "dead" at 70...or 80...whatever. As a matter of fact, my father who just turned 74 is in fine health, still goes to court all over the country and HATES shooting(we both shoot competitively) Hi-Power matches classified as a "Senior"...he HATES that term!lol!
I'm strictly talking musicians. I simply have no desire to see the same show I did 30 years ago.
