Hi out there!
I'm looking for some help with my 1970 MGB dashboard.
I have removed it from the vehicle and stripped off all of the switches, gauges & lamps.
It is pretty badly cracked in several places and would like to recover or have it recovered.
I have taken it to one auto upholstery shop but they did not want to touch it. The replacement part from
Moss looks like it would be quite an undertaking. I have no real experience with this sort of work.
SO, I'm wondering if anyone has ever repaired these small cracks in the vinyl or knows of a shop that does this
kind of work. This is the pillow style dash.
As usual ALL HELP is welcome and appreciated !!!
Jack

Look locally for someone who repairs swimming pool liners, and/or leather furniture. We have Dr. Vinyl. If you can't find anyone, contact a higher end used car dealer. Most have someone on call to repair dashboards, leather seats, recolor steering wheels.

Are you wanting to repair your dash or replace the vinyl covering? There are dash top covers that you would glue on top of your old dash. These seem to be good for a 'driver' quality repair if the defects are limited to the top of the dash. see: https://mossmotors.com/dash-top-cover-1968-71?assoc=49527

Next is to replace the entire vinyl dash (using your current dash's metal/foam core). See: https://mossmotors.com/dash-panel-cover-replaces-453-720?assoc=49526 & https://mossmotors.com/media/instructions/453-721.pdf

Finally, there is a real DIY possibility. This involves cutting out cracked & damaged areas and filling with 2-part mixes, sanding smooth and painting with textured paints. I did this sort of repair in our Alfa Romeo GTV6. After repairing the cracks & damage I sprayed it with pick up truck bed liner. I think it came out OK - if I were to do this again I'd consider taking the dash to a place that sprays the bed liner rather than using the spray cans. Before & after pictures below. YouTube video showing how it was done (this is not the stuff I used but it gives you the idea).

I replaced mine about ten years ago. The hardest part is removing the dash but I didn't find it difficult. The patch jobs that I have done never look right. If it's just the top they make a cap that hides the cracks

Thanks for all of the helpful tips. The damage is mostly to the front of the panel, so the replacement cap will not work for me.
I did find a listing for a DR. Vinyl fairly close by so that will probably be my next stop.
I appreciate the help.

Thanks!
Jack
