Hi. My 65 Roadster is Positive Earth with original loom but I am thinking of converting to Negative.
My concern is whether the original loom will be ok or should I change it too. The loom is in good condition with no breaks and never have had problems with it.
Thanks for your thoughts

Have you read this in the Library? You can retain your OEM loom. If you swap the generator for an alternator you'll need a couple of extra wires and you'll need to do something about the voltage regulator. Paul Hunt (mgbstuff.org) has a how to if it's not covered in the link.
Mk1: CKD 11/66 first registered 8/5/67; owned since 3/77. 18GB +40 balanced. Peter Burgess BVFR head. Piper 285. 123. FidanzaFW. 4synch c/r box. Lots more as I did a nut and bolt rebuild; finished 2015. Tartan Red.
GT: December '78. VW Golf guards, flush fit front and rear valances. Torana XU1 vents, frenched indicators & Mk1 rear lights. 'Worked' Rover V8 with Monsoon ECU for EFI. GM4L60E, Lokar tiptronic & Quick4 controller. Vintage Air A/C. FC IFS. CCE 4 link rear. Salisbury with Quaife. Jaguar Storm.

Not a big deal. The loom is not the issue.
Assuming you have an electronic, not mechanical tach, the changing of the wiring can be problematic. The local MG guru says many customers then have to get the tach rebuilt. I screwed mine up. My DPO screwed his up and put a Datsun tach in. So, I think he may be right.
The rewiring to remove the origional voltage regulator for the alternator is not hard.
For me it was unnecessary as I cannot hear the radio anyway with the top down. The generator has never let me down. More than adequate.

William - See the article, Polarity Change in the Other Tech Articles in my Homepage, linked in the signature block below. Also see the article, Negative Earth Stickers for when you get the polarity of your car.
