My clutch just started slipping slightly a few days ago. It only does it if I stomp on the gas going up a fairly steep grade. I don't think the disk is worn out. I suspect that it's contaminated by oil, because I have a lot of oil on the underside of the engine and bell housing. I may have inadvertently overfilled the crankcase at one time. I read recently where someone had that problem in another kind of car, and was able to fix it simply by spraying brake cleaner into the clutch. My plan is to wedge something in the linkage to disengage the clutch, and then find some place to douche the whole thing with brake cleaner. Has anyone else had this problem with a 1275 cc Midget and successfully fixed it this way? I really don't want to have to do a clutch job if I can avoid it!

There is a rubber plug on the opposite side of the bell housing from the clutch release bearing you can spray cleaner in, it might work for a little while, I don't think I would spray anything flammable in there with engine running.

I plan to do it with the engine off, or centrifugal force would prevent the solvent from getting where I want it anyway. I'll probably turn the engine a few times with the starter to get at the clutch in different locations. I sure hope it works!
