Got to the stage where I'd like to install a radio with two speakers, nothing fancy. I like the idea of having something that superficially looks right in the car, but benefits of having a few modern features at my disposal. hopefully something like that exsists. The original centre console has all been removed by the PO, so I'm curious how to go about installing one. Any info is great. The only wire I can locate I assume is the antenna (thick black with male type end). Many thanks in advance

I've been through the wiring in my midget alot latley and I thought I was mk is sing wires, but it ended up that they where tucked under the steering wheel oddly enough. I'd say poke around under your dash on both sides and see if you can find a bundle of disconnected wires, as to head units there are some retro aftermarkets made to fit vintage cars, they look the age but take aux and Bluetooth and all that jazz. Expensive pieces but worth it.

Chris, don't know if you're interested in this option, but since you don't have a console, it might be an option. Out of Sight Audio

is a small Bluetooth unit that you can install just about anywhere. It only requires a power wire and speaker connections and uses your bluetooth device for the source. It works just fine, but I'm using a ipod nano and I find that my old eyes have trouble reading the small screen. Its annoying to try to put reading glasses on while driving! Maybe there is a setting to enlarge the font . All the controls, volume, etc. are on your source, you don't do anything with the unit itself. And, as a side benefit, it cured the alternator whine that I could not get rid of with my old radio.
Just a thought.

Seanan, l have another good look tonight. Hopefully they tucked away also, thanks.
Jack, cheers I'll look into something like that. I tend to listen to music from a device anyway. I like the idea of something hidden and compact. I like the look of the interior without the centre console be honest. Cheers.

I had the same dilemma this past winter. I ended up going wth a Bluetooth Kenwood amp mounted in the trunk with just a pair of 6.5" Polk speakers behind the seats. Plenty loud enough to hear while driving and very good quality audio for a convertible in my opinion. The amp has both a 3.5mm input from my phone and the Bluetooth capability. Only thing it won't do is actual am/fm radio.

To be honest, the top doesn't cover them nearly enough to muffle the sound. The amp puts out 40 or 45watts RMS per speaker so they definitely get loud.

Sean, curious.
How do the speakers sound with all the top material stowed in front of them?
Was thinking of doing this, but am a bit hesitant.
Thanks
