I was just looking at a '61 MGA on eBay that's billed as a Mark II, but it has the wrong grille (not that unusual) but more importantly, it also has the tail lights on the fenders. Did early Mark II's have the lights on the fenders? I thought ALL Mk II's had them on the rear valence.

You are right , lights on body.

If it is this one.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MG-MGA-roadster-/201471740579?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2ee8a6caa3:g:HqoAAOSwcBhWUg-t&item=201471740579

It also has 1500 parking lights, no 4.10 rear end according to speedometer, no grill surround , no dash cover and it has a 1600 badge.

It's a bitsa car. Has all the appearance of a 1600 model (not 1600-M-II) with 1500 front fenders and Weber carburetor. Ask the seller for the chassis number.

I would say that is a 1500 car that has been re-registered as a later car. Perhaps it was stolen or wrecked and this was how someone "saved" it.
Is there an ID on MGAs that is not subject to tampering? I know the ID plate in front of the firewall and the tag on the engine can be replaced rather easily.

I think that's the same car I saw listed about a month ago. I emailed him then and politely asked him if he was sure it was a Mark II, and mentioned the grille and tail lights. He never answered, and didn't change the listing. It could cause him some trouble if someone buys it and then complains. Oh, well... got to do your homework on these cars.

Chromed tail lamp plinths are enough to make me run away screaming.

Hi Guy's

I was not aware that this vehicle was mentioned on the board. I also asked the seller almost the same questions as you guy's did . He refuses to respond even after two requests. I am very suspicious about the seller and his running shoes he has for sale also.
Poor guy who buy's this car.

Is it still listed? I didn't see it the last time I looked. It was the red one, right? Actually I think there's a real red Mk II listed as well.
