Hi been chatting to a local Garrett distributor about a turbo for my 1980 B he suggests a GT2560R as the best solution what you guys think? Also will a 270 piper camshaft have any influence on improving the Ve (volumeteric efficiency) of the engine, the stock engine Ve is 75% per Peter Burgess which is pretty low.
Randall.

The 270 is a great little cam to max out a t25 you might want to look at a cam with similar lift but greater LSA

The turbo will change the Ve to over 100%.

There are supercharger specific cams made for the MGB. I would look into one of those. A turbo supercharger or a belt driven supercharger should make little difference to the cam.

Big difference in a small turbo like the 25 and an SC different cam and exhaust needs.
Small disp turbo cam needs less lift and greater lsa and a good high cfm exhaust and work on he exhaust side of the head when porting work is done.
OP needs to look at recent thread on late model MGB turbo install.

I'm just talking out of my *** (since I don't have a turbo B) but it sounds exactly the same, from your description. I'm putting in bigger exhaust valves and a larger pipe... per Peter Burgess.

Talk to Piper - they are quite happy to grind a one off to suit your engine setup.

I have them grind a special cam for the supercharged engines I have built for people.

Thanks guys the reason for asking abt the 270 cam is because my NA B has been running this cam for years and I don't really want to change it when I go turbo.
Adrian what size exhaust are you going to use I see the guys using the GT25 turbo are using 21/2 " dia pipe. Anyone using a GT2560R turbo on a B??
Randall.

Im using a t25 on my 1999 saab 93 turbo and Ive increased the exhaust to a 3 in down pipe ,this allowed me to increase max boost to 20 lbs and at that rate the saab 2ltre is at about 269 horsepower at the crank.Ive no idea what it wil do on an mgb but Im interested.Saab 93 used the t25 up until 2000 I think aso the 900 used it for a number of years,if your looking for a used one to rebuild. They are an excellent turbo !! What are you going to use to feed it fuel . THANKS DAVE S

I'm planning to go to 2". I have the Piper 270 in my supercharged B and it seems fine. It idles pretty darned nice at 1000rpm.

Hi Dave I think the GT2560R turbo is the later version of the T25 family and there is a junk yard close by that specialises in SAAB bits so its worth a visit, I plan to suck thru a SU HIF 44mm carb into the turbo I am not looking for mega hp just +-120 at the flywheel and max boost of 8-10psi.
Adrian good to hear you are running a 270 cam with your sc and as I recall from an earlier thread @ 9psi so what hp do you think you are getting?

Randall.
