Is there any way of adjusting/aligning the doors on an MGB/C roadster? A restorer—who has since vanished—rebuilt my car with new floor pans and sills but now the driver's side door sags about 1/4" and bangs on the sill when closed. Can the hinges /doors be adjusted or am I stuck with a bad job?

Bill in Connecticut.

You can take off the door card, and you'll find , IIRC 3 holes in which the bolts that attach to the hinge live. Loosen all three, (don't take them all the way out), lift the door up, and tighten the bolts back up. That should do it if the hinges aren't bent.

The doors on the b and c are very adjustable (don't forget the front fenders are too, which helps too!

First thing you need to get is a impact screw driver... The "speedbit" (that name isn't right, but it's as close as I can remember) are notorious for stripping and siezing... An impact screw driver helps a lot.

I personally recommend throwing them into the ocean, and replacing them with case harder (black) Allen head screws. Then it comes to final adjustment, the Allen head is MUCH easier to use.

The hing to body screw are best for moving the door in a lateral rotation, where as the hing to door screws are best for a fore/aft angle adjustment.

Hope that helps.

Vince

I believe you mean pozidrive...8 section vs 4 on phillips. The correct tool should work along with 50% acetone and ATF to loosen same.
