O.K. Guys -- could use some help --

My MGB GT does not have sun visors -- just the old chrome bases are left on each end and the holes for the visor clips have been covered over with the replacement headliner from a PO very nice looking black headliner.

I ordered a set of GT visors from Moss but I am concerned that the nylon plastic rod ends that fit into the visor clips are way too short -- one only sticks out a little and the other a bit more but still very short as shown in the picture. I have not opened these because I may need to return them -- what I need to know is can the nylon plastic rod ends be pulled out to the right length -- or are they fixed where they are--

I also bought a set of used GT visor clips as shown in the second picture -- before I start looking for the holes under my headliner I would like to know which way these go -- is the screw that holds them in place at 6 o'clock or 12 o"clock so to speak -- a picture of visors correctly mounted in a GT would be helpful if possible.

And -- is anyone familiar with the black and grey GT visors that Victoria British has in their catalog? At least in the picture the rod ends that fit into the clips look longer than on the the Moss visors.

Any help would be appreciated.

Bill J.

Just pull the plastic out to proper length.

Once you find where they go, orientation should be self evident.

I just took this pic on my 71 GT as you can see the rod end goes right through the clip --so the new ones look short --the clip installs as seen

Send them back and get some window tint. Make the width to your liking and install. Cheap and if you get tired of it a razor blade will be all you will need.

Thanks to all -- I have one more question --

What type of screw is used to secure the visor clip -- is it a sheet metal type or a machine thread type? I didn't get any screws with the clips i purchased.

Thanks.

Years ago the plastic rod on a visor on my 68 GT got brittle and broke off. Nothing at all available at the time, so I went to a hobby shop and bought a little brass tubing that just slipped over the plastic. Been there ever since.

Not quite an answer to your question, but a cheap bodge that works.

Also, be aware the the GT is different than the roadster. I'm not sure what the difference is but Moss has 2 different part numbers

Roadster ones are about 1/3rd the size of the GT and frankly are waste of time, a baseball cap with a decent brim will do a much better job.

I would suggest Normans advice to tint the top of the screen marks him as someone who has never driven a GT into the sun !

The fixing screw is a small self tapper.

I tried to mount the brackets for the sun visors today. My 67 GT has a subroof for the Webasto manual sliding sunroof. My mounting holes are horizontal which put the rods at a downward angle. Did the brackets mount on an angle originally?

Thanks,

Warren
