I have completely disassembled my Coupe door window surrounds and vent windows. It appears to me that the brackets that the vent window locking handles close over to keep the vent windows closed/locked are stainless steel rather than chromed brass or chromed steel. Even the rivets that held them to the bottom vent window channels appeared to be stainless while all of the other rivets in these assemblies were chromed brass.

Can others confirm this? See the pictures, one showing the front and the other showing the back.

Thanks
Jim

Mine were originally held on with pop rivets. I plan to buy new 1/8" stainless steel rivets from a local hardware store, McMaster-Carr, or Grainger. I think the same rivets need to be used for reattaching the stainless steel strip to the bottom of the dash. I'll let you know where I get them. I'll probably have to buy a box of 100 if I get them from McMaster-Carr or Grainger.

Mine drilled out with at 1/8" drill bit. I'm not sure how long they were but they seemed to be standard pop rivets.

as i recall i think its the width of the head thats the non standard part, it seems to be a narrower diameter, i think i actually used a drill bit a little bit smaller then 1/8". i will have to look through my pictures and notes to see if i saved any info on them

Bob,
I used ⅛" diameter SS pop rivets on my rain channels. Worked fine for me.
Remember to put some sealant (not silicon) under the channels before fixing them to the roof.
Peter.
