Hi gents, I am renewing my Kangol seatbelts and want to know if anyone has found a source for the sewn on labels. Mine are beyond saving. Also I see some online references to plastic hangers on the rear side panels to hang the hooked end when not on use. Did the MGC GT come with these hooks?

cheers, Alan

Alan,

That is creative thinking. Next, you'll buy a 3-D printer and make your own parts. smileys with beer

These are the Kangol Reflex Model LD3-36, one was manufactured JUNE1973 and the other SEP1973, I had in my 1974 MGB GT. I plan on having them rebuilt and installing them in my 1968 MGC GT.

yes these look familiar. Not sure what the buckles were like though. Another worthy project. Try and cut the labels off carefully if they are worth resewing. Enjoy!

The attached photos are of the buckle side of my Kangol Reflex 3 point belts. The driver's side still has the switch harness attached as the 1974 had a sequential seat belt system which provided ZERO power to the starter if someone or something was in the seat and the belt wasn't buckled. Won't be using that aspect of the belts as I no longer have the sequence module and the fuse for that system was thinner than a filament of a woman's nylon stocking. When broken it couldn't be seen as broken and would sometimes make and break the circuit intermittently.

Now I remember that belt. Forget about the circuit wiring, my internal clip in the buckle self destructed and I ordered up the Securon inertia reel belt from Moss.angry smiley

The car I have now came with something similar to the Securon but there was no bracket as you see on the Kangol recoilers. The bracket allows the belt to feed out the bottom of the reel and allows it to be angled properly to allow smooth operation. I haven't seen any such brackets offered on the new belts. Without the bracket the reel points the wrong way and the belt will twist when moving in and out of the reel. I think I'll be able to find someone to resew new webbing into the system and I can get new buckle ends easily enough from another source. One of them is ok as is and doesn't have the wires in it anylonger. The molded plastic on the driver belt is cleanly broken, but not repairable.
