When I press on the brake, the RPMs increase and its not my big foot. I can kneel next to the car and press the brake pedal with my hand and the engine RPMs increase. I suspect it has something to do with the brake vacuum system. What do I do to correct this safety issue?

The brake booster diaphragm is probably leaking and will need to be replaced soon.

What Jack C. said...

Applying the brake is creating a vacuum leak...

Thanks and I agree it most likely is the booster diaphragm. I checked the vacuum hose and the one way valve and they are okay. Question: does anyone have a source for a booster repair kit. Moss and other don't seem to carry them anymore only a complete booster unit.
