1977 MG MGB
Hello,
I searched but I couldn't pull anything up. I am doing a carb swap on my 77 mgb. Anyways I pulled off all the old ZS stuff including the manifold and went to the store to buy a few things. When I got back I noticed oil leaking down the side of the engine coming from one of the threaded holes for the manifold studs. I am absolutely positive that this is where it is coming from (the hole has oil in it too). It is leaking very slowly (in 3 hours it didn't even leak enough to reach the ground). Is this normal? It seems abnormal to me but I could be wrong. I was just going to get some antiseize or some rtv and put a tiny bit on the bolt to be sure.
Thanks guys,
Brett Taulbee

X2.

Those manifold stud holes go all the way through to the cylinder head studs holes. Be careful if you use bolts or threaded rod, you may wind up with grub screws on the head studs.

Yep one of the most frustrating things to happen to me. To pull the SU carbs, exhaust manifold and associated parts off to get to a leaky tappet cover, repair the cover leak reassemble and then find that one of the manifold studs to start leaking that was not before. Its like hey I'm a MG if you try to fix one leak I'm just going to find another place.
