okeydoakey....the bias plys are miserable to drive on even if brand new,no argument there....but here is my take,I have a 75 TR6 with Michelin X redlines, no idea how old they are but they look perfect and I have owned and driven the car for appx 10 years, also have a TR8 with Kuhmos that are 10 +years old too, again perfect shape and both car get less the 1200 miles a year. Then there is our 07 Kia Sorento that I replaced the original tires on last fall because of wear. not age...not to mention countless other cars I have owned with who knows how old tires on them.... my point.....why no blow outs in all these years??
I am trying to compare reality to conjecture based on experiences of mine and others...thats why I asked...it there no one here that has tires older than 5+ years??? it just seems illogical. thanks for the input and opinions tho....

I drove around on 30 year old tires for while when I first got my B back on the road. I drove it like I stole it. Only problem I had was they didn't have a lot of traction as the rubber had hardened. Great fun doing burnouts through town though. Especially after I add the supercharger!

Old tires fail when exposed to high speeds and subsequent heat buildup. If you are just short tripping and not doing Interstate driving, you may get away with it. The problem with this is a failure will most likely come at the worst time...when at higher speeds.
