How many miles have recorded on the original engine of an MGB. I am approaching 97K and am wondering how much is left in the old girl before I have to rebuild the engine as I put on 7-10K per year Thanks, Ed

I know some people have rebuilt the engine at 60K and others have rebuilt at 200K. It depends on how you drive it and how well it's looked after.

Mine was at over 100,000 miles. Really if you look after it, it should last forever. They are pretty strong engines. I could see one doing half a million if you drove it enough and changed the oil out 4 times a year. Most of the time though people rebuild them because of the loss of power or oil pressure woes.

Rover K series conversion, in the shop.

Oil is the lifeblood
Bearings main and crank wear even with the best care.
You won't see 500K

All with the engine in place. At 8k average get several more years

Mine is an early overhaul, @75K. New rod bearings every 25K miles. I rev the begeezus out of mine and drive 75 to 85 mph on the freeway with a 4 speed. Mine has 1.5 K since refreshing the rod bearings, cylinder hone, new rings, and its oil press is same as yours (50 idle, 65-70 on the road) and 155 psi on HC 18GB.
Yours sounds fine.
