Came across this part
http://www.lbcarco.com/parts/outletcyl-hd-to-autochoke-470-245.htm

are these bolt up holes the same size/location as the heater tap? if so it would be ideal for the multitude that are converting to an in line ball valve

I've never seen anything like that. But you're right, you could put a grove valve right on the heater. Or even kludge a solenoid activated valve instead of the nasty cables.

I'd imagine asking lbcarco that question would give a better answer<G>

edit: I don't imagine it would be that hard to cob up an equivalent (even if you don't weld, a welding shop couldn't charge more than 20-30 bucks one one of these (well, they could, but it is a simple 5 minute jub if the pieces are presented to then already assembled in some manner), you can drill the holes, they weld the tube to the plate.

Looks like the pipe that goes behind the valve cover on a late B engine. I think it used to supply hot water to the choke. Wish I thought of trying it in place of the heater valve when I took it off years ago.

Good idea. Bolt width/placement slightly different. I was hoping that you were onto something.
