Most cars the gas pedal is a couple of inches lower than the brake pedal, my 1979 B is at the same height, so when I hit the brake, my foot is also hitting the gas, is this typical pedal height? Can it be adjusted down? I am a first time B owner and have lots to learn. Thanks!

I had 1.5" cut out of my gas pedal length (see pic). I just took it to a welder and he sectioned a piece out and re-welded it. I like it better.

Nope, small nut and bolt and it's out. Make sure not to lose the bushing, or the pedal will flop around.

This car is now very nearly completely done. Sure to find something else, but not now.........And 12 years later, I'm starting to fix things that were new when we built the car. It's pretty well de-bugged!

I had my 1.5" cut out of my gas pedal length.
That's what I did to our '78 MGB (since sold).
As I recall, it was not a huge job to remove the pedal. I bought a used pedal to modify (eBay) so I had no long down time.

Makes me wish I lived in the northwest!
Especially this year. We've had the warmest, nicest winter in history. I've had to mow the lawn several times already. I feel for those on the East coast. Brutal would be an understatement.

Has anyone tried adjusting the cable at the carbs so the pedal is lower? I have thought about trying it, but I don't know if you'll get full throttle opening before hitting the stop on the floor. Of course I guess a lower stop could be made with sheet metal and tin snips.
Thanks
Thanks

Not sure if on all models, but on my 79 there is a adjustment bolt on the shelf by the gas filter. Loosen the nut and adjust from there.
I may do as Bob has done so that I could do a proper heel-toe, instead of a foot-ankle to rev motor while braking.

Yes, I tried that, but as you suspect, it affects the ability to get full throttle opening.
