Car's been down for a couple of months.Had the carbs rebuilt,
the radiator recored,& the gas tank boiled out & recoated in/out.
Now I get nothing from the fuel pump (no ticking).
checked the wires,& a test light shows power to the pump.
What should I do now?

Smack it with a hammer!

Seriously, tap it lightly - even better, bang on the bulk head (behind the passenger seat) with your fist. Just enough to get the points to break loose.
Or, you can remove the passenger side rear wheel, remove the pump, open the end, clean the points and adjust the gap, then try it.
Since the car has been sitting up, probably got a lite oxidation buildup that is keeping the points from firing.

Have fun

Harry X2. That is the biggest problem with the points style pumps, the contacts do film over when the pump has been idle for extended periods.

I you have alcohol in your gas, you need to buy the 5/16 OD fuel line that is coated to prevent rust.

Your local auto supply can provide the correct piece of tubing.

Went ahead & got a new one from Basil.
The old one could be original,so I might fix it & keep
as a spare.

If upon disassembly the diaphragm of the traditional SU comes loose without damage, renewing or at least cleaning the points set and re-adjustment is possible. If however the diaphragm tears as in my case, the costs of a new diaphragm are so high, repairing is no longer financially wise. And if your new one from Basil is full electronic, it may well outlive the rest of your car.... eye rolling smiley
