Under each door sill is a finisher strip meant to cap the seam where the body connects to the frame. Has anyone installed one of these lately. I thought I might ask for tips before screwing it up on my own.

It looks like a $19 part................Moss price - $69

Thanks

Does anyone have a decent pair of "shut face covers/panels"? My first pair are curved too short. Bought 2 from Moss at $84 each!!! I'd like to get used ones and return the Moss.

The moss ones (shut face panels) i had were the wrong shape but this was 10 years ago or something. I cut and bent and welded them up until I could use them, but a well made set would be a better option if I had to do it again.

I left the finishing strips off my car, so can't help you there.

Some blue painter's tape on the rockers /fender bottoms will allow you to mark/ double check the position of all your holes before drilling, and give a little scuff protection as you work. I'd center punch before drilling as well- you don't want the drill walking off and the chuck getting into the rockers. Splash shield bolts don't get covered by the finishing strip. Touch up paint on the hole edges before the strip goes on.

The finisher strips Moss sells continue to be somewhat different in shape from the originals. The finisher strips are made so bolts can slide into the finisher strip, and the bolts run through the bottom of the fender, rocker and rear fender where they meet the inner sill. The finisher strips cover the small bolts which join those parts.

Here are some photos of the back of an original finisher strip and original bolt.

The finishing strips were all painted in body color by the factory.

Let me know if you want other pics.

Charlie

Ok, this may sound stupid but the bolt goes inward toward the center of the car and the strip is on the outside with the track facing inside.

Jim,

You have it correct. Bolts will go inward towards the center of the car.

Do you have the positions of the holes? I could take measurements from an original car if it matters to you.

The new Moss finisher strips are aluminium. The price includes the hardware for installation. Make sure you prime them with an etching primer or 2 part primer, before finish colour.

Many years ago I made my own using lengths of (solid) steel bar stock - 1/2" X 3/8". I drilled them for flat head stainless steel screws - the screw head on the outside, nuts & washers inside. Not stock but they've lasted for years. Once painted (body color) it's hard to see the screw heads. If someone bends down & comments on the non-original finisher strips I'll give them a kick in the a$$...
