Help me find my first car. 1951 MG-TD: VIN # TD8561EXLNA. Bought used in 1955, Philadelphia PA area, then traded on a new Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite in 1958. I think the dealer said they wholesaled it to someone in the South.

Don hope you can find your car. Try the NEMGTR. Maybe your car has been put in the registry. You can also check the registry site here to see if someone registered. MY be a start any way. Idk. Your car is about 100 digits from one I am restoring now. It was my dad’s before he sold it 60 years ago

Thanks for the trip info with your MB 190 Sedan. I am familiar with them. My Dad bought this 190 Station Wagon new. I got it from my Mom when he passed away in 1969. We kept it for many years but then decided to sell it. Just another one that got away. We also had a 1960 220S and a 1960 190SL

Thanks so much for the link to NEMGTR. I will give it a try. I like the story about the TD you are working on and the fact that the VIN is so close to the one I had. I do have a similar story. We have a 1962 Corvette that we bought in 2015 out of a neighbors garage, parked in 1975. Original paint, gauges, upholstery, and somewhat disassembled, but all there including all of the original fasteners. We put it back together and got invited to an NCRS judging seminar where they had 2 other '62s. One was the same color (Honduras Maroon) and was the NEXT VIN # AFTER OURS. It is a small world, especially with the internet. I was able to locate my 1960 Fiat Abarth Zagato Double Bubble that I sold in 1974. Found it it CA. While at Pebble Beach with our Brewster Town Car, we met up with the owner and I got to drive my old car. Another one I wish I had back!

Don - I'd suggest you email the NEMGTR person I gave you the email for. That's probably the best way to get the info you need.
