Can someone tell me the differences between the 1622cc MGA 1600 MK II and the early 1800cc 3 main bearing (specifically the "G" prefix with road draft tube) MGB engines........aside from their displacements. I ask because I have that 1800 in my 1960 MGA . I would like to get a Moss Supercharger for it but Moss tells me they don't have one for that application (something to do with the water pump pulley). Thanks.

Install the MGA water pump and pulley on the 1800 3-main engine, and you can use the Moss MGA supercharger kit.

That is really good news, Barney. I sent a few inquiries to Moss...............even asked if I could machine a special water pump pulley for my 1800, but never received a reply. I should had went straight to the "Guru" from the start! Question: what modifications would have to be made in order to fit the MGA pump/pulley or is it a straight drop-in? Thanks!

It is a straight drop in. The only thing to watch for is that the 1800 has a scroll that the impellor fits into. The 1800 pump has locating studs to make sure the impellor doesn't hit the scroll. When you install the MGA pump, rotate the impellor to make sure it is clear before tightening the mounting bolts.

Sorry you didn't get a reply from Moss. I have not seen this question run through tech. Contact me direct at doddk@mossmotors.com if you have any other questions about the supercharger. I'm running one on a B and one on a 58 ZB Magnette.

Kelvin.
