After spending a small fortune to get my 74 running after a three year layoff, I have run into a problem. My choke was frozen, and when I pulled on it, the cable broke. Now the car will not start and draws my new battery down very quickly. I know some of you have replaced that cable yourselves, but it is very tight in that area. How can I get it started and keep it running long enough to get to the mechanic? Thanks in advance for your help.

I made a temporary choke out of two wiring ties- loop them over the linkage and start the car- wait a few minutes to warm it up and then throw the ties in your glovebox for your next cold start.

Cheers
Ron

Pull the wire from both ends but keep the envelop in its place, push the new wire back to the old envelop from the cockpit. It is a solid wire it is easy.

to replace the cable here the video from John T.
