I have a crankshaft pulley that was somehow separated (I think a PO set the pulley down on the front cross-member during an engine pull, causing the two pieces to separate).
I certainly have the skill and tools to physically press the two parts back together, and I have the original rubber-ish material that goes in-between. It appears more or less unharmed. But I'm nervous about vibrations if I don't align the two parts exactly.
Has anyone done this?

The two pieces were actually bonded together, that is the "rubber" was introduced between them and cured in place.

The damper doctor and the damper dude both made fixtures to reassemble them properly.
It sounds like someone used the improper pulley to removed the balancer, grabbing it by the outer edge instead of using a bolt-in steering wheel (type) puller.
