Hi MG Friends,
I'm considering attending the Amelia Island Concourse this year but not sure as to what event what be most fulfilling.
Have any of you attended this event ever? What day or event would you recommend to a Commoner, MGA owner?
I'm thinking we would attend festivities only Saturday or Sunday. Any more than this and my galfriend will burn out.
Thanks!

The tickets are not cheap. But you will see cars that you will never see other then pebble beach. If you go on Saturday it's free. I have been invited to the Cars & Coffee event which is held on Saturday. You can also hit the auctions and see the cars before they go on the block. The event is a "Must See" for any Car Guy.

Saturdays cars and coffee is free and the cars are from local car clubs. Still by invitation and very nice examples but limited to 250 cars or something like that.
Sundays cars are not all the Saturday cars. Its the good stuff. I guess the cost of Sundays tickets keeps the riffraff out.

Jinno,
I have been to the Concours for the last 4 years. The tickets are $95 each if ordered in advance. If you have never been to a Concours show it is worth the trip at least once.
The Saturday event is a free Cars & Coffee event as stated before and there are nice cars there.
You may want to consider going to the Eight Flags Road Tour on Friday. Many of the Concours cars drive around Amelia Island and end up downtown where they park the cars for LUNCH. Go about 11:00 AM and park downtown and walk around and view the cars when they arrive. FREE

Enjoy!

My wife and I went a few years back (unfortunately the year after they featured MGA so we missed that). We loved it. We did only the Gooding Auction and the main show on Sunday. When we go back we'll make sure to get there early enough to do the Gooding preview. It would have been nice to get up close and personal to the auction cars. There is no comparison between local car shows and this top rate show on the quality, rarity and variety of the cars. We rubbed shoulders with Wayne Carini, the cast of What's My Car Worth, and McKeel Hagerty. The people watching is fun too. The MG presence wasn't extensive but it was fun to see. Some very rare T series and older as I recall. No MGAs the year we were there but maybe because they had been featured the year before.

Absolutely spend the money and go the day of the concourse. You'll see the best of the best. You'll just walk by Ferrari's to look at the really rare stuff. As far as keeping the riff raff out I don't think the price really scares anyone away. It will be packed. Go around the back of the hotel when the auction is going on to see and hear the cars as they're lining up to go up on the block. Definitely a bucket list event.

Joe has some very good points but I still think a $95 ticket will influence some local visitors and the last thing they need is more people on Sunday.
If you are there to experience the whole event then I agree the ticket price is peanuts. If you just want to sample the event then $95 may be a factor.
Either way its something to see.

+1 on getting a ticket to the concours. There's always something for everyone, and there are usually some pre-war MG's on display allowing us A owners to get in touch with our roots. Ron and RedDuck are right - the Saturday morning cars and coffee event is more likely to have an MGA along with other more affordable and accessible cars for all, and you can't beat the price. The RM Auction has an MG F-Type for sale, and it is located in the Ritz just above the showfield. You need to be a bidder to get into the auction, but they usually have most of the cars on display outdoors the day before and during the auction. There are two MGA's at the Gooding & Company auction, a coupe and a Mark II.
It's a bucket list kind of weekend for a sports car fan. Hope you can make the trip.
