Finally finished sorting out my friend Bruce's '52 TD...and he's been driving the wheels ever since. He cam by this Saturday for a visit so I used the occasion to snap a few pics.
The (short) story is, Bruce was referred to me by a friend who owns a 1500 TF that I work on. When I got the call, Bruce had dismantled the TD down to the tub and had a revelation that he didn't think he could get it back together by himself. I was only too glad to help. This is not a restoration by any stretch but I'd call it a very nice driver. Motor was solid and the odometer only showed 48,000 miles on it. At first I suspected the odometer had turned over but, the more I worked on the car, the less I thought so as it was clear that most (maybe all) major assemblies had never been molested. Original miles? Maybe...
In any case, the motor showed decent compression so I cleaned it up, changed all of the usual small parts and installed a spin-off filter that Bruce wanted. After a minor tune, it started right up. We've had some fuel and condenser woes since then but have them all sorted out now. The 'Lil Red Car has new shocks all the way 'round, new bushes at all four corners, recored radiator, new timbers throughout, wiring harness, new interior and top, restored side curtains, new bumpers (the old ones were beyond redemption), new dash and restored instruments, and more small parts than I care to count.
It took a bit over a year to get Bruce back on the road but it was time well spent. I'm sure going to miss my afternoons in his shed working on the MG. Thanks to all on this board who have patiently answered my, often, simple questions. Couldn't have done without this great community of enthusiasts. Enjoy the pics.

Thanks Jack. Sure is a sweet driving little car. Even stops after rebuilding the brakes.

Bruce put 50 miles on it Saturday including a brief jaunt up into the moutons around us. Said it ran great if a little bit pokey going up some of the steeper grades. Seems about right for anything (or anyone) over 50 years.

I believe they're stock size. Just the camera angle making them look fat.

Certainly looks like a decent MG-TD.I would be proud to own it.
One question.
What size tires are on it as to me they look wider than most,.
