My MGB GT has been in the family for 53 years. Restoration almost finished! The Lotus? Mid life crises I should have bought when I was 25.

SOunds sus. 484 bhp from a 1.8 litre motor?

That horsepower figure is bull****. The formula is HP=(T x N)/5252 where T=peak torque and N=RPM's at peak torque

So if HP=424 and torque = 245, then solving for N= peak torque RPM of 9,089RPM

On a supercharged racing engine like this peak torque is maybe achieved at 4-5k, which keeping reported max torque, would yield HP in the range of 187-233. Pushing peak torque to 6,000 would get you 280.

At any rate 424hp is HIGHLY unlikely.

Oh, and a sub 3 sec 0-60 on tires that skinny is equally unlikely.

Reading the ad the engine is a K series not a B series. The K is 16 valve dohc and as a standard they Rev to over 7000rpm. Not sure about the 400+ Bhp but the engine has potential.

Yes, I saw the pictures and it is obviously a modern engine and so a 7,000-7,500 RPM redline wouldn't surprise me. But again to get to the stated power requires a 9k RPM torque peak, which would be a-typical for a supercharged engine.

440rwhp over 500 engine out of a stock bottomend 2.0L turbo engine at 6500 rpm is easily achievable
His claim of 170mph with the right gearing is pure b.s. the Mg's Cd wont allow that speed even pushing over 400hp
Sub 3 0-60 yeah sureeye rolling smiley

True but there's not much left of the original 1968 car other than the shell and VIN. I suppose the original VIN could easily have had 5 owners.

Right, but the ad says this one is supercharged.

I don't doubt that the engine can be made to produce that level of power, but it would require very high boost or stratospheric RPM's. Given the low torque number compared to HP, this engine seems to have gone the latter route, but a torque peak that high in the RPM range is not typical for boosted engines.
