  • motor in and done!

  • Almost there

  • Ain't she purdy?

  • Note the chrome bumper bars on the front, EMPI model 3107 if you like them.

Acquired this red gem from Oregon Bob. It is a 79, but with the bottom portion of a 65 transplanted to make it a CB. Stripped, rust free, POR-15, painted and all new or rebuilt underneath.

Bob regretfully passed it on to me to finish. I am hoping that my low expectations can rise to meet his high levels of quality to date.

I got a newly rebuilt V-6 engine, and a T-5 transmission with the car. I am in the process of making the conversion kit work on an engine it was not designed to fit.

My hopes are to have a nice looking, freeway compatible, and still a coastal curve chasing car. I would like something quiet, with longer legs, and moderate power increase over the I-4 engines and 4 speed trans.

Edit - it's now about 98% done. Are they ever "finished"? Runs like a scalded dog, and looks like a million bucks. OK, it did cost about a million bucks, but I think it's worth it! Made it's debut at MG-2013, sans interior and windows, top and a few other details. Watch for me, it's going to be a long distance runner! Turns 2200 RPM at 70 MPH.

I wouldn't talk too much about your VIN plate changes.

I am doing the same thing when I put the new GM 3.4L V6 crate engine in my 1977
MGB. I have access to Titles from earlier MGBs.

Richard, the trans is from a V-8. IIRC it has a 16 degree offset which leaves the shifter closer to the driver. Works very well, at any rate. And fits with minimal adjustment to the hole.
