  • On the Blue Ridge Parkway headed South. Cloudy and cold, but gorgeous!

EDIT: This car has been sold - I will transfer it to the new owner once I have his username!

I bought this in Ontario after stumbling across it on Kijiji. It's been a lot of fun, but it is time to move it along to a new home. My for-sale post in the Trader is here:,2444475

It is, apart from a respray in its original color, a quite original and low mileage car. The color is my new favorite, Snowberry White, which really looks like an extremely light Pale Primrose Yellow to my eyes. It still sports all of its original emissions equipment, including the carb cooling fan and Otter switch, not to mention the under-dash panels, the leather steering wheel cover, the Kangol Magnet belts, and the '69-only Chiclet headrests.

Shortly after buying it, I sorted out its major needs, fitted some new tires, and hit the road to Atlanta via the Blue Ridge Parkway. What a great trip! 2,727.4 miles there and back and the car performed flawlessly. The automatic transmission gave some trouble immediately afterwards, but an adjustment to the front band resolved it. Speaking of which, the automatic is, to my surprise, a nice complement to the character of the car. I tend to be a manual transmission person, but the MGC makes for an excellent Grand Tourer when fitted with the Automatic.

Since that trip, I have continue to sort out the car's needs. The engine bay received some much needed cosmetic attention, and I sourced and installed a set of the proper Girling MkIIB power brake servos that were rebuilt by the folks at Power Brake Exchange. The windshield and backlight trim still needs to be installed.

Ed: I have not, as I decided to clean up the engine bay a little bit and source a set of proper Girling brake boosters, which are currently in San Jose being rebuilt. To make a long story short, I haven't really started trying to sell it yet. Once the boosters are back and installed, I plan to post up a for-sale thread in the Trader forum, plus perhaps posting it up in a few other places.

Also, as noted above, ****the best way to reach me is via e-mail****!! You can get my address by clicking on my name above.

As a native Virginian and MG owner since 1977 I appreciate the Blue Ridge Parkway sunset photo. I have a '69 MGC GT BRG project car (manual) that is very original if you know anyone looking at the other end of the spectrum from your vehicle. Your car is a beauty--thanks!

Car is resting in the shop in Madison, WI after a 1200 mile trip from Concord, NH.
Unfortunately, half the trip was in a trailer. This Canadian-spec car had an 8-blade cooling
fan and it threw a blade in Ashtabula, OH. Local mechanics thought the cam or crank had
gone. Took my mechanic a day to figure out there was a fan blade missing. So that was
the "ping" I heard before the motor started shaking. Sourcing a 6-blade plastic
replacement, which I understand were standard on US-spec cars.
