Roll Bar Mounting Different Years

What is the difference in mounting roll bars in older (pre-71) and later MG Midgets? Moss Motors has a roll bar listed as pre-71; but not one listed for later Midgets. I once had a 67 Sprite MK IV, and it looks to me, like the same roll bar would fit my 74 midget. Can some explain what (if anything) is different? I want a simple roll bar that will have proper padding. It is a street car so I only expect some increase in rollover protection, but not race legal or complete rollover protection. I am attaching a picture of my old 67 that had a simple roll bar which bolted into to the floor and wheel well. Please don't jump in with the old roll bar versus no roll bar, I will only whack my head, or the street bars are junk arguments.

Thanks in Advance

That's strange VB lists one for 70-79 models but not earlier ones. Maybe it has something to do with the three point seatbelts or the folding top? I didn't think the basic flor shape had changed enough to require a totally different rollbar.

Spring mounts, seat belt anchors, headrests, permanent collapsible top...multiple guesses. Once the tops became permanently attached something changed in that rear bulkhead. Certainly the cockpit surround changed. I have a 65 and 74 sitting right next to each other so I'll have to see if anything jumps out at me. I will say the only rollbar I ever owned came out of a much later car, and required too much finagling to fit behind the seats of my Lizzy 74.

I looked at that one but decided against it. If you look closely you’ll see the bends are crushed like exhaust pipe. I bought another one for less but higher shipping. It seems to fit perfectly.
