I have discovered a leak in my hs2 carbs around the throttle spindle. What I am wondering is has anyone had success with just replacing the spindle and the butterfly or is that a waste of time and should I send the carbs off to have it reamed and oversized spindle installed?

Dennis,
HS2s typically don’t wear on the carb side, just on the brass throttle shaft. An easy way to test it is to remove the butterfly and slide the shaft out noting the fit of the unworn portion. Since the shafts will probably be worn you might as well rebuild them with new jets, etc.

When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life. John Lennon

Just took the throttle spindle out and it is obviously worn. I think I will replace it and the butterfly. Thanks for the help.
