Y - Any updates?

Rich - Any photos of weatherstrip? I'm restoring a Snugtop, and all of the weatherstrip had been removed. Not sure what can be used at the window openings, or for the rear seal. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks, Rich

Hi Rich,
I got side tracked with other projects over the summer and did very little on this.

I know what i need to do for the top and should have more time soon.

Y.

Y. Lee, I can't see any of your pics.

This perked my interest to look more specifically at what I have. I have the same top as you with the larger style rear plexiglass type window, but it's branded as 'Custom Hardtops' instead of SnugTop, and has MG badges. I don't have the J-bolts or whatever secures to the body. Does anyone have a picture of those or know where to get them?

Good looking top Jeff,

My pictures are in Google photos. You may need to be signed in to Google.
Is anyone else having problems seeing my pictures?

Jeff,

The j-bolts that came with my Snugtop are just pieces or 1/4-20 all-thread that has been bent to form a j-bolt and then covered in vinyl tubing to protect the brackets. Not original to the top, but do the job.

Snugtop is still in business in Long Beach. Have you guys tried to contacted them. Also several years ago I ran across a company in So Cal that had dies to make all kinds of rubber moldings. They would even make a die if you could provide them with a section of the molding and then make the exact molding for you. I will try to located them.

i had the same hardtop briefly (ended up selling it to someone further north who may be little shorter than I)... i used carriage bolts and wing nuts. It's not that complicated

Hi Chuck,
I called them a few years ago and they are no longer the same company.
They found it "interesting" that they once supplied MG Hardtops.

when i asked about glass, weatherstrip and rubber, they suggested I talk to a local glass shop.

That's interesting because their website touts that they have been in business since the 1959 and has pictures of their hardtops on a Datsun roadster, a Fiat 850 and a Triumph.

They sell stuff for new cars. Cars eventually become old and the stuff doesn't sell as much and they don't offer it anymore.
