We finally got started on putting the Midget back on the road.

We have the engine and trans out (great learning experience)

I'd like to hear everyone's suggestions for where to buy parts.

I've done research at NAPA and a bit on eBay. but one thing I havn't been able to find is a good supplier who knows midgets. A place that would sell specific kits and parts and items specfically for midgets.

For example a complete hose kit, or belt kit, or the like

I'm going to keep looking, but I thought I'd go to the experts for suggestions as well, So any tips are welcome!

Anyway... You can find our new pics and video here:

or here:

Thanks for your help!

Matt, there are quite a few MG parts specialists, in the UK, and in the US, including one who posts here regularly. I recommend that you do a search on "suppliers" here and you'll find all you need.

Also, welcome to the fold. There is a whole lot of great info available here in the "Library" section of this website. Check it out. Also, any time you have questions, please do a search here first, as it has most likely been discussed before, and then ask us for any details that didn't answer for you.

I hope you already have a copy of the Bentley manual (reprint of the factory manual) and the Haynes (they compliment each other nicely).

For suppliers, I recommend that you ask for print copies of their catalogs, as they often contain extra information that is not easy to see on a website. Even the ones in the UK, their print catalogs are often exceptionally well done.

in terms of big suppliers, Moss is always my first thought. they have a good reputation and I have never failed to get to someone who knows what i'm talking about on the phone (sometimes it takes a transfer). They pretty much have every reproduction part available with very few exceptions www.mossmotors.com
request their catalog, the exploded diagrams are very helpful.

Victoria British has a similar volume of parts, but don't count on getting service from anyone who knows what an MG is, they are strictly a retailer.

there are also many suppliers you will meet through this board who are moss suppliers, they buy from moss wholesale and sometimes have more flexibility for discounts over Moss's price.

Moss is big enough that many if not all other parts suppliers cross reference to Moss part numbers.

Please don't forget Robert Kirk (kirks-auto.com). He posts here several times a day and is extremely knowledgable and generous with his time. I personally have learned a tremendous amount from him.

Robert is a Moss dealer and I am sure he can get you anything you need. He also stocks parts that they don't.

I'd give Robert Kirk, Hap or any other active contributors to the site first shot but if you ever
need "face time" Jim Knight of British Racing Green in Newark DE is a great guy...He'll talk for
hours in his shop. Show you how to do stuff. He's a Moss distributor and offers deep discounts.
He has a junk yard and has what seems to be an unlimited supply of NOS and used parts. His shipping
prices are exactly what the UPS guy charges and I usually get the stuff the next day...We are really
lucky to have this place close by...

I continue to use Jim Knight at British Racing Green because I am loyal customer and he has always been exceptional. Ditto the comments above: he will help you out, he has many non Moss parts as well, he charges actual shipping rates and the stuff arrives the next day.

I would also recommend Robert Kirk, he is on the forum a lot. He is very helpful and seems like a great guy.

For rebuilt calipers, master cylinders, shocks and such, Peter Caldwell has a reputation for superior products.

Be sure to get paper copies of Moss and Victoria British catalogs. They are very helpful for their diagrams and part descriptions.
