Hi. I want to deactivate my steering lock. Can I slide my ignition switch further up the steering column to bypass the the slot that engages the steering lock. Thanks

The body of the lock indexes to the hole in the column, so it is not going to be that simple. With the lock off the column, you should be able to peen the material around the lock bar to prevent it from pushing out into the hole in the steering shaft.

I saw on this site a method that I successfully used. Its not elegant but seems to work. Cut a small piece out of a beer can or the like to wrap around the column to prevent the lock plunger from entering the column slot.
