This summer it will have been 15 years since I restored my B.

A few presents I have in store:

Upgrade to electronic ignition. Should I also replace the coil?

Upgrade front brakes to the slotted and drilled kit from Moss. Is this worth it?

The car runs hot in rush hour traffic. My parts source recommends a radiator shroud and new fan blade. Anyone have any experience with the shroud and does it help?

Thanks

Scott

Scott, have you had a professional cooling system flush? That may save you the cost of new parts. For a stock MGB, slotted and drilled look pretty but don't get you any great gains given the cost. Electronic ignition is not an upgrade; stick with points.

A coil can last forever. The slotted and drilled discs are bling. No performance upgrade there. I've tried the shroud on my supercharged '67 B. No difference in running temperatures whatsoever. The B tends to run hot on the gauge, but if the radiator isn't boiling over, the engine isn't overheating. RAY

Scott,

Don't bother with the fancy rotors.

I like my electronic ignition. Never a problem and instant starts. The only electronic issues I've seen were owner induced. I have electronic ignition in everything I own.

I have the Moss shroud and 7 blade fan. I live in the humid South and never a heating problem. I should add I have a $100 aluminum radiator I got from Amazon.

I would go after the cooling system issue.
