In reply to a post by I've heard of dampening/wetting the floor around the car prior to spraying in order to keep some of the dust and dirt down.

I screwed up my paint so many times it was not funny... total sand off 4 times!.
Best advice
- is plenty of air at the gun (30psi with a gauge)
- Watch a great video on spray gun setup from OHW (stands for one hit wonders on youtube) called "spray gun setup"
*** that video alone finally gave the key to proper spray setup....the paint job was done with a Harbor Freight $10 gun.... 1.5mm tip for topcoat and 1.3mm tip for clear

This gives a better idea of what the color looks like. This is 3 coats of red before the clear goes on tomorrow.

There are some tiny flaws in the body work but this isn't a Riddler car and after a few months on the mean streets, it won't be cherry anyway. You have to play the light across the panel to be able to see them. The rear fenders are about 2 1/2" further out than stock but it doesn't look like that much

Jeez Jim, I was only kidding. After 45 years I though you catch it..........

I realize that you know as much about the body work on this thing as I do, you are personally responsible for many of the rev. 2 & rev. 3 changes that have been made. I was just making a comment that the fenders don't look like they are as wide as they actually are due to how they are faired into the body and doors. Just trying to pat myself on the back a little.

sitting there all masked up, it kinda looks like an ordinary MGB......even if it is an MGB with 11" rear wheels and 550 RWHP.

I did want it to be recognizable as an MGB when it was done. BTW it's only 535 FWHP, 550 FWTQ

Umm, I wonder if the country lanes in the UK were not so narrow would the Brit cars have been slightly wider in track?

Jim you have taken this design to a level the ADO would never have but maintained a balance/proportion.

that looks fantastic.....and having only painted my trunk lid this far.....it isn't as scary as most think. I had lots of experience painting with airbrushes earlier in my life, so many of the lessons do carry over.

Hopefully I'll get the rest of the car done by early summer with some luck. I too don't have a spray booth, but was very happy with my results so far, but I'm only doing single stage urethane.

I'm sure your neighbors loved the smell!
