To catch up on jounal entries; I brought the 77 MGB home on a trailer on Sep 30. Overall good condition for a 40 year old car but it has a large burned area where the carburetor caught fire several years ago. It hasn't run since parked. I found two pushrods out of place which explained the backfire and burned hood. Met Neil from Neil's Restorations in Decatur. Very knowledgeable and willing to share his years of experience. He sold me two used pushrods and a couple of gaskets for $7.50. So far I'm liking this resto project. Installed the new parts and it started. Adjusted the timing and valves and it runs great. Now on to the electrical, brakes, and clutch.
Electrical: no gauges, fans, brake lights, blinkers, or overdrive.
Installed a new ignition relay and got all but blinkers and overdrive.
