Sadly, there's a good number of us who feel your pain. My advise is to plan a day or two ahead by pre-soaking everything in PB Blaster and then keeping your Dremel nearby when it's time for removal. I've slotted, drilled, and cut off more screws on my '73 and '75 than I have taken off as intended. Someone commented when I started on my '75 years ago asking whether I would prefer if the Brits had done like the Italians and welded the fenders on to the car rather than used slotted screws. My answer was a resounding "yes!", at least then I know to reach for the cut off wheel right away! Good luck with the rust and the red, at least you're making progress!
