In reply to # 3884693 by tahoe36c What can anyone say about Janis Joplin? A remarkable voice that could never be replaced. Her and Jimi were lost way too early...

Me & Bobbi Mcgee is just magnificent!

My favorite driving song!

Remember when it cost 15 bucks to go to a Formula 1 race? I found my ticket stub from Watkin's Glen GP 1976. That's the same year depicted in the excellent film Rush (2013).

F1 hasn't raced @ Watkin's Glen in many years. A grandstand seat in Montreal for the Canadian GP now costs around $275, and up from there.

US Grand Prix in Texas grandstand seat looks to be $500 - $600 and up.

I gotta add this photo to this thread also. Digging through some old photos the other day - this is me in 1965 with my first British sports car, a 1958 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite,

In reply to # 3884606 by little G Obviously not my photos ...but 2 of the best classics of the era .....

In 1972 my friend and I took a trip, in my 1972 MGB/GT, from Upper Heyford, England to Lemans France for the race. We left a few days early and arrived at the race on Thursday. Because of the early arrival we were able to drive around the track. Below are some pictures of the event.

First is the clock. They should have painted it. Second is the Mulsanne straight. Third is the grand stand area. Fourth is the Dunlop Bridge. The Corvette is the Greenwood Corvette driven by John Greenwood and Dickie Smothers. It was a DNF. And then the finish of the race won by Graham Hill and Henri Pascarolo.

We had excellent tickets that put us in the Chrysler tower and also allowed us on the deck above the pits. That was really cool to see.

Hope you enjoy this.

Bill
