So in some of the pictures I have noticed that a lot of the black cars with red interiors also have a red dash. I always thought that the 1500's all had the dash painted the same as the body color.
Checking Barney's site, he has a footnote explaining the red dash/ black car combination.
My question is what is the color code for the red on the dash? It seems to be a slightly darker shade than the regular MGA reds.
As always your help is always appreciated.

Charles,
Here’s a picture of the table on page 102 of Original MGA by Anders Clausager. Footnote 1 indicates that he says the red has been described as ‘Cherry Red’ but he does not give a paint code.

Unless it was a couple or a mk2 the dash was painted body color.

Richard, you are right, unless the car was black, in which case there were exceptions. See the previous post.

Mark

Apparently according to Clausager and Barney, there were exceptions. I would love to hear from owners who have used the red on the dash of their black cars and see if they know the paint code.
Thanks

Here’s a thread on just that subject from a couple years ago.

Clausager's mentions the cherry red. The Autocolor library lists and shows a Cherry red color for a 1956 MG Magnette. The color chip looks pretty close to the color shown on the pictures of a red dash shown on this site.
I did look at the old thread and the suggestion to get some samples of the red upholstery are a great idea.
Thanks and still welcome any paint codes that any one has used on their dash.

Charles,

Here's another pic of the Jaguar Signal Red dash from the above post. It's as close as I could get to what I think the original look was, and it's a good match for a bright red interior.
